Sales of our best-selling turntable brand are hotting up. The award-winning Rega Planar 3 RS Edition is quite literally walking out the door.
A fantastic example was installed this week along with a Brio Mk7 amplifier and Kyte loudspeakers — all fitted into a very small space, and sounding superb. The system did justice to a very special record collection, with possibly the best Led Zeppelin collection I’ve ever seen. Crystal clear sound, genuine warmth, and surprising punch. The customer was delighted.
Every installation is done properly. The turntable speed was calibrated using a KAB strobe. Tracking force was set to exactly 1.75g — the point that gave the best balance between openness and weight. This isn’t optional. It’s the difference between a turntable that works and one that sings.
The same turntable made it into another system the previous week with similarly excellent results. The Planar 3 RS is presently selling at the rate of two to three a week, and it isn’t difficult to understand why. It is undeniably the best record player available new at £1,100 — and competes comfortably with decks at £1,500 to £1,800.
The Planar 8 in White
Another happy client took delivery of a Rega Planar 8 in the relatively new white finish. Having seen a few of these in the flesh, I have to say — it looks incredibly classy. Not applying the black paint band to the platter allows the light to hit it and create a stunning effect. Combined with the minimalist skeletal plinth design, this may be the best-looking Rega turntable yet. Once the speed was adjusted, it gave a very lifelike portrayal of music — full of energy, speed, and dynamics, mixed with true analogue warmth.
Why Rega
Rega turntables come with a lifetime warranty. From any angle you look at them — musicality, reliability, retained value, longevity — their products significantly outperform their rivals. You work too hard for your money to spend it on half-decent hi-fi.
We carry everything Rega makes and have over twenty-five years of experience with the brand. Audio Republic also carries the most comprehensive range of cartridges, phono stages, and vinyl accessories in the North East, and offers a record cleaning service.
Playing vinyl should be an incredibly rewarding, pleasurable, and relaxing hobby. Rega’s products let you access it without the trials that owning less well-made equipment can bring. We’d be delighted to help you put a system together.
